East Asian Studies

Available to all undergraduates, this interdisciplinary minor introduces students to cultures of East Asian countries, including courses in the humanities, social sciences, religion, society, economics, and politics. The minor also provides the fundamental language skills necessary for those students who want to begin to communicate with native speakers.

East Asian Studies consists of 18 credit hours of approved course work of which at least are upper division (300 level or above). Students must take at least 6 credits in either Japanese or Chinese language (equal to completing two years’ study). The remaining 12 credit hours can be taken from an approved list of courses from Anthropology, History, Gender & Sexuality Studies, Political Science, Communication, Honors, and International Business.
