How To Obtain a Double Major In German

Students who are completing a different major in a different department can double major in Foreign Languages (with an option in German).  Double major students are required to complete 24 GER credits in courses numbered 300 or above.

Requirements: 
*GER electives, numbered 300 or above, sufficient to bring total GER credits to 24.
(Total number of credit hours required for graduation: 120)

 

How To Obtain a Single Major In German

Students who are only pursuing a major in Foreign Languages (with an option in German) are considered single major students.  Single major students are required to complete 24 credits in GER courses numbered 300 or above.  In addition, single major students also have a linguistics requirement and a second language requirement.

Requirements: 
*LING 200G
*GER electives, numbered 300 or above, sufficient to bring total GER credits to 24.
(Total number of credit hours required for graduation: 120)

 

How To Obtain a Minor In German

Students can add a minor in German to their current major(s). Students who wish to minor in German are required to complete at least 18 GER credits (a maximum of 6 GER credits are allowed in the 200 level).

Requirements: 
*GER electives sufficient to bring total GER credits to 18.  A maximum of 6 GER credits at the 200 level may be used to bring the total number of GER credits to 18.
