How To Earn a Double Major In French
Students who are completing a different major in a different department can double major in Foreign Languages (with an option in French). Double major students are required to complete 24 FREN credits in courses numbered 300 or above.

Requirements:
at least one course in each of the following three areas
*Language studies (315, 325, 352, 425, 466)
*Culture (306, 360, 362, 378, 410, 478)
*Literature (381, 382, 386, 471, 472, 486)
*FREN electives sufficient to bring total FREN credits to 24.
Please note that at least one course is required at the 400 level.
(Total number of credit hours required for graduation: 128)
How To Earn a Single Major In French
Students who are only pursuing a major in Foreign Languages (with an option in French) are considered single major students. Single major students are required to complete 24 credits in FREN courses numbered 300 or above. In addition, single major students also have a linguistics requirement and a second language requirement.
Requirements:
*LING 200G
*Second Language Requirement: (CHIN 212, GER 212, JPNS 212, PORT 214, SPAN 212 or SPAN 214)
*at least one course in each of the following three areas:
*Language studies (315, 325, 352, 425, 466)
*Culture (306, 360, 362, 378, 410, 478)
*Literature (381, 382, 386, 471, 472, 486)
*FREN electives sufficient to bring total FREN credits to 24.

How To Earn a Minor In French
How to obtain a Minor in French
Students can add a minor in French to their current major(s). Students who wish to minor in French are required to complete at least 18 FREN credits (a maximum of 6 FREN credits are allowed in the 200 level).
Requirements:
*at least one course in each of the following three areas:
*One upper division course in French or Francophone Culture
*One upper division course in French language studies
*One upper division course in French or Francophone Literature
*One upper-division class in an area listed above
*9 additional credits from French courses chosen with the help of an advisor
A maximum of 6 FREN credits at the 200 level may be used to bring the total number of FREN credits to 18.
